Heritage & History
In 1874, Matthew Mack opened the first Mack stand in the Tin Market at Covent Garden. He bought samples of produce from the Pudding Lane auction and whisked them back to market, ahead of the heavier horses and drays. What he lacked in start-up funding he more than made up for in entrepreneurial dash. He soon established an excellent reputation as a supplier of high quality fruit.
These days, Mack is one of the best names in UK produce, still privately owned and part of The Fresca Group. Our strong focus on quality and customer excellence, along with our dedicated, experienced team makes us one of the leading fresh produce suppliers operating in the UK.
Mack wholly owns DGM Growers, a company which specialises in the growing, supplying, packaging and marketing of niche vegetable crops. You can find out more about the products they supply by visiting their website here.
Mack has been working with Spanish citrus grower, Martinavarro, for over 50 years. We formalised this strong partnership in 2007 by setting up MMG Citrus Ltd. MMG Citrus incorporates the best of both companies, supplying deliciously zesty citrus fruits to our customers. You can find their website here.
We work with UK retailers, wholesalers, online supermarkets and even retailers abroad.
Each customer sets different expectations for us, our passion for customer excellence pushes us to constantly meet or surpass these standards.

To find out more, please contact us here.
Our site is based in rural Kent and consists of 50 packing lines, extensive ripening capability including blast chillers, 4,800 storage spaces and the ability to run 24 hour operations.
The state-of-the-art machinery in our packhouse is looked after by a team of knowledgeable engineers. We have a range of different packaging machines which allows our customers to pick the options best suited for their products and their customers.
We have access to separate banana facilities both in Kent and at a customised ripening and packing site based in Bishop’s Stortford.
We’ve been a zero landfill site since 2010. Any fruit which doesn’t meet specification but is still fit for human consumption is sent to food redistribution charity, FareShare. All fruit which isn’t fit for human consumption is sent to farms or zoos for animals to enjoy.
We have five year energy reduction targets and a comprehensive recycling scheme in place to make sure we reduce our carbon footprint every year.
Each year the Mack team vote for a nominated charity to raise money for with all fundraising matched by the company.
We’re proud to support our local community and schools wherever we can by sponsoring activities, projects or providing fruit donations.
